I am so excited to be able to share this fan edit with those who have a Disney Plus membership! I have done this re-edit out of the love I have for the Star Wars community and the positive responses I've gotten from my other fan edits of Obi-Wan and Boba Fett.

I actually enjoyed most of the Ahsoka show, so this was more of an exercise in more concise storytelling for me. There were things that I wanted to change based on my own personal opinion, but for the most part I just spent 10 months working on this movie to see what I could do to improve what we got. I definitely spent way too long on this, but what can I say? I love Star Wars that much! I did 115 VFX shots for this movie, whether they were small changes or big changes, they were all important to the story I wanted to tell. I want to be very clear, this is my own artistic interpretation, based on my personal opinion and taste. If it resonates with you, then that's awesome. If it doesn't, no worries, rewatching the full show on Disney Plus is always an option!

 

This is all done as a fan, for the fans, and I am not making any money from it. I really hope you enjoy this 2.5 hr movie interpretation of the Ahsoka show.

DOWNLOADING ISSUES

Some people have had trouble with WeTransfer failing or being really slow while downloading. If this is happening to you then either your internet bandwidth is too small or you may have to switch to a different browser and try again. If that still doesn't work then you can also try downloading on a different device.

 

HDR vs. SDR

HDR (High Dynamic Range) and SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) are two different approaches to capturing and displaying video or images. Here’s a simplified breakdown: SDR is the traditional format for video and images. It has a limited range of brightness and color, which means it can’t display extremely bright or dark details as well as HDR can. Most older TVs and monitors use SDR. HDR expands the range of brightness and color that can be displayed. This means that very bright areas and very dark areas in an image can show more detail, and colors can be more vivid and accurate. HDR content is designed to look better on HDR-capable screens, which can handle this wider range. When you try to view an HDR file on a screen that doesn’t support HDR, the screen can’t properly display the expanded range of brightness and colors. This can result in the image looking washed out, too dark, or overly bright because the screen is trying to compress the HDR information into its limited SDR range. The content wasn’t designed for that screen, leading to poor visual quality. So, if you aren't sure what kind of dynamic range your device supports you can either Google it to find out, or be safe and download any of the SDR files.

 

PLAYBACK ISSUES

If your device or media player doesn’t support HDR or the H.265 codec then the video won’t play, or it may play with errors like choppy playback, distorted visuals, or no video at all. In some cases, you might only hear the audio without seeing the video. If this is the case then you should download one of the SDR options since they are encoded with the older H.264 format and should play nicely on a much broader range of devices.

 

POTENTIAL FIXES

1. Download one of the SDR options: The SDR files are encoded with the older H.264 format which should be able to play nicely on a wider range of devices. Because this codec is less efficient the file sizes are larger.

2. Update your software: Ensure that your media player, operating system, or device firmware is up to date, as newer versions might add H.265 support.

3. Use a different media player: Some media players, like VLC, MPC-HC, or QuickTime Player, have built-in support for H.265 and might work even if your default player doesn’t.

4. Try a different device: If your device is too old to support H.265, try downloading the file and playing it on a different device.

HOW TO WATCH ON A TV

There are a few different ways you can get it to play on your TV. If you download this movie on a laptop then you can usually plug it into your TV via HDMI cable. The way I like to watch on my TV is uploading the file to my Plex Media Server and then downloading the Plex App on my TV and watching it that way. It's a great way for your TV to trigger the HDR mode if you have that capability. And you can upload the subtitles once it's on Plex and have them on screen while it plays on your TV. Plex is free to use and has been my favorite way to watch my own movies.
